CORSA of the ANELLO

The Corsa of the Anello is the celebration of San Giovenale. This celebration will begin the 24^th April with the passage of the autioneer that will led to a series of events until the 12^th May with the equestrian event.

The Association of the Corsa of the Anello has announced that the celebration will begin the 24^th April with the opening of the taverns and will end the 12^th May with the equestrian competition to celebrate San Giovenale.

A LOT OF INNOVATIONS – There will be a lot of innovations in this year project. You will see entertainments, exhibitions, banquets, medieval markets, theme-days and other events that have never been done before. The project will be a mix of tradition and innovation.

THE TRADITIONAL EVENTS – We can’t speak about the innovations that the new Association will bring to the “Corsa of the Anello”, but we can say the dates of the traditional events, such as the medieval days. The day of Mezule will be the 26^th April, while the Terzieri of Fraporta and Santa Maria will perform the 1^st May, respectively in the afternoon and in the evening. The offering of candles and the release of the prisoner will be on the 2^nd May. The 3^rd May there will be the Mass and then the procession in honor of the patron Saint and, in the afternoon, the traditional race in Piazza dei Priori. The 8^th May Fraporta will bless and invest the knights, while the 9^th is the time of Santa Maria and the 10^th of Mezule. The historical parade will happen the 11^th May and the last day, the 12^th, there will be the equestrian competition.
