Going down my road
[...] Therefore… I’m going down my road to discover this unique niche yet extremely popular region of Umbria, with its industrious spirit, far from the clamour of mass tourism, in keeping with the same slow yet attentive lifestyle that has characterized the region for centuries. More than a journey, this is a philosophy of life, created out of the opportunity to head off on a path of the five senses: to hear forgotten noises and sounds, to see rare beauties, to touch the treasures of a distant past, to taste traditional foods and beverages, to smell the various fragrances of the changing seasons. A journey that is also a search for colours: from the silvery leaves of the olive trees, to the autumn shades of the vines, to the light blue sky, to the green of the oil and its countryside, from the crystalline white of its waters, to the golden white, or twilight red, of its Doc and Docg wines.
In an effort to fully represent the uniqueness of the entire territory, Umbria’s Extra Virgin Dop Olive Oil Road has joined and intersected with the region’s Wine Roads, classified according to their production areas: the Cantico Road, the Etruscan-Roman road, the road of Sagrantino and the Trasimeno Hills. These itineraries, supported by the Region of Umbria, together with local municipalities and private organizations, were created and developed to serve as extremely important tools for the integrated promotion of the territory.
